Hola Amigos y Familia!

The week was a little rocky with intercombios (aka exchanges...I think) the girls almost missed their plane but we're able to come last minute! The craziest/funniest things always happen in intercombios and lucky for us we get to do them every week! Your totally pooped after but it's worth it. Thank you for your love, emails, and prayers. The mission is amazing, God is great, people are crazy! Enjoy every second of every day. We are incredibly blessed and our possibilities are endless. Love you guys!

Hola Familia y Amigos!

12 Month - June

Fam and friends,

This past week we had Mission Leadership Counsel and they flew us and the Zone Leaders into Madrid to participate.  Five other girls and I stayed in the mission home over night with President and Hermana Pack and it was so fun getting to know them and their family! We got in late, changed into our jammies, and President and Hermana Pack cut us a watermelon and then showed us their fruit sticker collection.  I adore them.  The next morning the other missionary's joined us for the meeting and it was amazing!

I'm so grateful for this opportunity I have to serve, love, and improve.  I love the mission and I love our Father and Savior very much.  On the flight over Hermana Freestone leaned over and said, "God loves his missionaries so much!  Right now he's flying us from the coast of Morocco to Europe." We are very blessed!  This transfer we made big goals in counsel meeting and we're ready to help the rest of the mission achieve them.

Miracle this week, during her religion class in school, Alejandra (16 year old girl from our rama), stood up and shared her testimony on the atonement.  The teacher was interested and accepted the invitation to have the missionaries come teach the class.  Of course under legal obligations we could not testify, but we could still invite the spirit.  We showed a very basic video about the Mormon church and then left the rest of the time open for questions.  We spent 1 1/2 hours talking and answering questions with the class! When the bell rang nobody got up to leave, instead they ran up to us with more questions!!!

Needless to say the islands are crazy!  I love our branch and the people here are bomb!

I'm headed to the Canary Islands!  President called Saturday morning and asked, "Hermana Charlesworth are you worthy and willing to serve where the Lord needs you?" My new journey is taking me to Telde where I will serve as an STL (Sister Training Leader) and my new companion will be Hermana Freestone!

Love you all!!! Study your scriptures.

Hola Familia y Amigos!

This past couple weeks have been buenisimo!  Why?  We are almost 100% healthy!  I'm loving the mission, we see miracles every day.  God is great, God is tender, but I've learned that God will also test our faith.  Always put your trust in him, he's your Father and he loves you dearly.

Hey Fam and Friends!

I'm sorry I haven't written in a while!  Thank you for your emails and prayers!  This past week I took a visit to the doc and he announced me as "critical condition" but no worries he took some blood (didn't even cry mom), gave me lots of drugs, and commanded bed rest for a bit.

This week to prepare for Elder Bednar (who comes Saturday-where having a group discussion, so if you have a question for him pass it to me!)  I've been reviewing his general conference talks for the past ten years. Something I noticed as an ongoing theme, or something I've learned, is overcoming the natural man.  Elder Bednar stated that the number one question in the test of mortality is, "Will I respond to the inclinations of the natural man, or will I yield to the enticing’s of the Holy Spirit and put off the natural man?"  I invite you to meditate this question and remember, "You can have what you want or you can have something better." -Elder Holland.

I know that Christ is our Savior and that he lives. I know that God is our loving Heavenly Father and that he loves each of his children.  Our MTC President always told us "Don't do anything that would make me (Dad) sad." Our Heavenly Father extends the same invitation, "Don't do anything that would make me sad".  As we know, opposition is necessary for us to be able to use our gift of agency.  When we fail, and no matter how many times we fail, we are saved through the atonement and grace of our Savior.  Apply the atonement, repent!  Change your direction, and remember that your direction is ever more important than your speed.

I love my Heavenly Father, my fam, and the mission!  Study the scriptures!

Hola Hermanas y Hermanos!

No tengan miedo a cambiar.

Hey Hermanos y Hermanas!
This week as buenísimo! We are teaching good people that are excited to learn and apply the principles of the gospel. My favorite part of the mission is being a witness to change. To see the worst situations become the best.  When we change, we are repenting. When we repent we change our habits, thoughts, beliefs, attitudes and actions.

When Elder Morera from the seventy visited, he told us, "we are happy people because we can change." We have the opportunity to change and become better every day! We shouldn't have fear or be too lazy to change. With great faith we can do more than we think possible and perform more than our weak, physical minds can think. If we are comfortable in the boat, we'll never walk on water. Repent, change, be guided! God is our Heavenly Father. He loves us and will never let us fail!

February 29, 2016

Hola Familia y Amigos!

Hey Fam and Friends!
This past Sunday Elder Jones and I gave a talk on missionary work, and there was a few things I wanted to share with you guys! At the beginning of my mission, in a mission with President Pack, he told us, "We are one church. Not a church of missionary's and a church members. We are one church and we work together." We are all called to work actively in this marvelous work (D&C 4)!

I want to extend a challenge to you, especially the members of my family. I want you to find the missionaries in your Ward (this week)and invite them to invite their investigators to your house for a family home evening. Easy-peasy!

At stake conference the Stake President advised that we need to invite people not of our faith into our home to feel the spirit. This experience is amazing! Find your missionaries, invite them for a family home evening (you can tell them they have the lesson) and tell them to invite an investigator.
Can't wait to hear your stories!
As for news this week, I ate cow tongue and we got a microwave!
Make this week great!

I will go, I will do, I will become

Hola Familia y Amigos!

No tengo mucho tiempo solo querría enviarles uña mensaje pequeñita y

Hey Family and Friends!

I don't have too much time, only wanted to send a short message and
thank you for your love and prayers! I'm grateful for the opportunity I've had to know you, work with you, and most importantly grow in the
Gospel with you! You have taught me more than I could possibly teach
you.

Last week was transfers and I was called to serve in Oviedo (the
north of Spain) but we received a call from President Pack an hour
before my train and he told us, "Hermana Charlesworth, I don't feel
good about transfers. Stay put, don't catch your train, your going to serve in Barrio 4 with Hermana Griffin." And now I'm here! There's lots of work here, the district is awesome and we're working really hard with the ward to build the area. Also-I love my new comp! She's super cute and works really hard (was an Hermana Training Leader twice).

Les quiero mucho!

7th Month - January

January 12, 2016
Hola Familia y Amigos!

How is everyone's spiritual goals and game plan?

I thought I'd share a few of mine, if anyone needs a few ideas:

1) Read the Book of Mormon in Spanish in 4 months. Game Plan: 5.4
   pages everyday
2) Memorize a scripture every week. Game Plan: Pick a scripture every
Monday, recite it throughout the week, then tell my companion my
memorized scripture at the end of the week.
3) Share my testimony as often as I can.
   These are just a few!

This week was super rainy and super busy! All three of us were doing
splits to get our appointments in. There's a lot of reactivating work here. We've had three lessons where we've taught The Restoration, asked the baptismal question, then found out they were menos activo...hehe...! God is great and I love serving! All of our
investigators have fechas and are progressing poco a poco. I love
them dearly! We hope to see them in white in a few weeks.

Training is one of my favorite parts of the work right now. I love my Hija! She's from the Canary Islands and is learning English. Just a few funny mistakes she's made this week that have now become jokes and thrown us in giggling fits:
"Sheffards quack at the site..."  Aka "Shephards quake at the site..."
"My stickers stank in my poocket..." Aka "My stickers stuck to my pocket..."
"I'm going to flirt on you..." Aka "I'm going to fart on you..."
"Your eyebrows are on flick..." Aka "Your eyebrows are on fleek..."
Hehe, oh dear I'll stop there, she's a hoot.

Study your scriptures! Make this week great! Venga, Nos Vemos!

Buenas Amigos y Familia!

How was your Christmas and New Year?!

La Navidad y el Año Nuevo here was super tranquila but also my most favorite. Being set apart as a representative of Christ, you can feel his love for all of the Fathers children, and you forget about the presents and rush because all you have room for is love and lots and lots of native pastries (I will have to be rolled off the airplane when I come home).

This week I pondered the story about Lot's wife in Genisis 19. Lot was commanded to take his family and leave their city, and was precautioned by the Lord upon leaving, "look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain". However, Lot's wife still looked back: "But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt." The question remains why did she look back? I want to relate this story to the New Year. Every year we make goals to progress, and like the Lord commanded Lot's family, we should not look back, neither
stay in the same place, but continue moving forward.

A stake from the south of Spain made a temple trip and invited us to eat with them one day (biggest paella pan I've ever seen in my life). We shared a message and asked everyone what some of their spiritual goals were for the upcoming year. I was surprised and humbled that every one of them had a specific spiritual goal and plan to carry it out. I invite you all to make a spiritual goal and plan. Satan is real, he wants us to fail, and he wants to be miserable. We need a spiritual game plan. Don't let him win! God is on our side. If we're not moving, we're not progressing, and we could be turned into a pillar of salt...

Study your scriptures! Venga! Nos Vemos!

6th Month - December

December 14, 2015

Buenas Family & Friends!

Crazy news...IM GOING TO BE A MOM!!!  In the Mission hehe!  And in a trio!  It's hard to believe, I was being trained only four weeks ago and now I'm going to be training!  In a trio...oh my...

Fun news for the week:
Being so close to the Temple and the Stake Center we meet people from all over the world.  The Temple serves Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Germany but Madrid is a melting pot so we have met people from all over Africa and other European countries as well.  As Hermanas of B6 we give Temple tours and this week we had the opportunity to meet and tour over a hundred youth from Barcelona this weekend.  I love the youth!

Just a quick blerp:
This week I pondered the Christ-like attribute of humility, and its opposite, pride.  Pride affects all of us in various ways and in various degrees.  I used to think of pride as arrogance and self -centeredness, but understand it a little better now as a state of opposition.  When we are prideful we are selfish and we are concerned how things will affect "me".  Pride also affects our relationships and especially our relationship with our Father in Heaven.  I believe if we have pride in our hearts, we could miss something important, because the proud are not easily taught! Choose to be humble and build others!  We can choose to be humble or we can be compelled to be humble, but blessed are they that choose (Alma 32:16).

I'm super content that I'm staying another transfer in Barrio 6!  There's lots of work and we have amazing investigators right now.  Excited to be training with Hermana Harper.  It's funny, I asked to go on splits because we are becoming really busy and we were blessed with another companion!

How's everyone's Family History search?

Thank you for your prayers!  Study your scriptures!

(December 1, 2015)

Hola Family & Friends!

Another beso for me this week hehe!  Oh dear Spanish men... Speedily leading the way to an appointment, I had Hermana Harper, the Elders and a member in camino right behind me when a Spanish man stopped me to ask if I was a missionary (being stopped instead of doing the stopping is always a dream).  "Si" I said proudly! Long story short he wasn't interested in the lessons and as we started to leave he pulled me in for smooch!  Gah!  Everyone gasped in unison and the member screamed to scare him. Super funny, we still giggle about it.

We had a great week!  We're finding a lot of good people so we're going to start doing splits to teach everyone.  I love the people we're working with!!!  The Ward is great and they're a huge support.

Short thoughts/tender mercies/happy moments from the week:
-We passed by a family of members and at the end of our lesson we asked how their reading was as a family.  "Good" they replied.  Then we asked where they were (because this is the real question to see how their reading is!) and in unison they said "2 Nephi 11".  I was impressed. Does everyone know where they are reading right now?  And as a family too?
-Our menos activo we reactivated a couple of months ago gave a strong talk in church.
-Another young menos activo we reactivated is preparing for a mission.
-The weather is freezing at nights!  (7 degrees c!) I didn't bring boots or leggings (don't worry I have some now!) and getting ready to leave an appointment with an investigator she noticed I was bootless!  She ran back to her room and came out with tights and boots for me.  The people have big hearts.

Thank you for your prayers.  Study your scriptures!  I love you!

Venga! Nos Vemos!

This week was a week of trying new foods.
